Welcome to the Dark Sheep social hub, a place where you can find sanctuary in the world of the decentralized federate universe. As you know, the times are slowly but surely moving back to their roots, i.e., decentralization because that's how the entire internet started. Our association very much welcomes this initiative, so we decided to contribute our bit to the whole idea. So, we have launched a hub where we will gradually launch all the relevant services for the federate network. Currently, the main network will be Mastodon, which is a decentralized replacement for Twitter, and Pixelfed, which is a decentralized substitute for Instagram. We decided to launch this hub for two reasons. The first is to guarantee that the server will run for a long time, subscribing to all the infrastructure services for a long time in advance, plus financial help, thanks to our Patreon. The second reason is to take the idea of decentralization to an entire new level. In practice, this means that most servers use centralized services like Amazon AWS for data storage. We, on the other hand, use a global decentralized network, so the data is literally “scattered” around the world. We would also like to offer a safe and decent environment for discussion, decent promotion, where we can be sure that there won't be any major infractions because the server admin team would stop caring.
Since most instances are more specialized in some area, we would like to be a place mainly for tech and IT enthusiasts, graphic designers, programmers, game developers, gamers, movie, and book enthusiasts etc. This doesn't mean that our servers are forbidden for other topics, we don't oppose them at all, but then just be careful of the rules because we won't suffer extremism here either. The most important rule of both servers is that we only support English, Czech and Slovak language, which are the languages your posts should be in.
